I know I’m supposed to run every other day per C25K plan but my work schedule is irregular and I had to squeeze in the 3rd run tonight

Have you had an X-ray, followed by an mri? You may have an actual knee issue requiring pt or surgical help. Sorry to say that

I lived with pain in my leg for five years finally had an mri and they said i had bulging discs 3 more years went by i became disabled and immobile tho i hid it at work and from my hubs. Finally sought a spine and back doc who spent 10 minutes with me and said, this is a hip issue. I was in end stages of osteoarthritis, had a torn labrum marrow edema and bone shards floating around. He was flabbergasted I wasn’t on pain meds other than Tylenol and advil which i used sparingly but the pain often made me cry and i lost probably years of sleep. 14 months and one entirely new hip later i am a new person. I am super active like i used to be. My leg wasn’t the problem it was the area my pain manifested. Please get seen. I went thru 8 years of unnecessary pain. My pcp has apologized repetitively for thinking it was my back causing all this pain.

Yearofhealth I rarely seek medical attention🤣 My knees are aching simply because my running form is bad. It will go away, it just sucks now that I may need to take a break. Thank you for your advice.
|
I’m sorry to hear all the pain you went through. Looking at your photos, I’d have never known. I’m quite feral and my body usually heals on its own.
|
Have you tried leg extensions exercises to see if it helps, try one leg at a time and only take what you can without any pain? Hopefully it will get stronger and pain will start to diminish. I have slight pain in my right knee and that’s the strategy I am using before seeing if there is anything really wrong with the joint.

Dharam yes! Strengthening quads is important, and I thought about using the leg extension machine at the gym, but I was overcome by the fear of gym equipments. I’ll do it at home. Thank you for the supportive words.

Yfritz i hid it really well. My hubs didnt even realize how disabled i had become (as we worked opposite schedules and i could suck it up for short periods of time). Thank you! Soooo, i dont know what it means to be feral? To me that means wild and not domesticated? Like a wild kitten? Ps. I was always the girl that thought if i could forge thru pain it would be fine. Not so much anymore. My hip was a massive lesson to me to seek help earlier.

Yearofhealth I have no idea how you hid such great pain so gracefully. Hats off to you. I actively broadcast my pain but my coworkers don’t care🤣 They just roll their eyes and add more assignments. Nursing is wild wild west. By feral I meant my ability to recover from injuries without proper medical care. But aging humbled me a bit. I’ll be kind to my knees next week. For now, I’m going to bask in the glory of completing the week 2 of C25K, which no one noticed🤣🌅

Gigi do they still sell CBD products? I haven’t seen them, they used to be ubiquitous. I’ll definitely cold compress tonight. My knees are already feeling a bit better. I was just being a baby👶🍼
|
Hmmmm I wasn’t so graceful. I would cry sometimes at night when it was the worst. Tears would just roll down my face like a waterfall. Let me give you your first congratulation on completing the week 2 of c25k! Btw i tried cbd oil also for my pain and it didnt help due to the nature of what was actually wrong but it may be worth a shot? My girl worked in the ER as an RN while she was getting her DNP and she lived on 4 hours of sleep for a couple years and you are right. No one cared just added more work. 12 hour shifts minimum and often longer. Nurses are true warriors!!!!!

After my recent experiences in hospital emergency rooms, ICU and regular floors, I know that heaven is overloaded with nurses because you are ANGELS. 👼👼👼

Rest n recover. Then start it again. These kinds of challenges is silly. Your body needs to adapt. Grinding down your cartilage is gruesome

Be careful YFritz. None of us are exempt from injury. And forcing yourself to run and doing it incorrectly with bad form sounds like a recipe for disaster. I think you should stop running. Now…it’s time for me to be the bossy one. 😂😂😂 Seriously, it’s great you got this far but look where it got you?! Nursing 24/7 and being a slave to more work? Improper care will reverse your roles, you’ll soon be the patient if not careful. Don’t be reckless. Now I’m the one running away from you cause I doubt you’ll like anything I had to say… 🏃🏽♀️🤣

as someone with osteoarthritis, inflammation is the culprit. Boswellia extract, tumeric and ginger(seasoning and supplement), and UC2 supplements are key to keep knee/back healthier, in addition to transitioning my eating back to my roots: Mediterranean. Physical therapy helped me strengthen muscles surrounding knee. Stretching can be a blessing but a curse depending on what's wrong. This is my testimony!!
Yours will be different. YOH is right: MRI/XRAY. Chronic knee pain shows something is out of homeostasis. Supergainz is right: rest n recover!! Find out why you have pain first. 🤌🏼
