This is what happens when I lie to myself and fail to hold myself accountable. I never thought I would return to the 180’s. I thought I was out of the 170’s permanently. I was down to 163 and preparing to leave the 160’s when I lost all control. This is proof to myself that I can’t outexercise a bad diet. I exercise daily doing cardio, strength training, and yoga throughout the week. I am sleeping and hydrating adequately. Today I have returned to logging and holding myself accountable for my food choices. I am not going to chastise myself. I am using this information to make better choices going forward. Most importantly, I will be truthful.

This is why I always suggest logging all food, including "cheats". Because if you don't, you will be cheating yourself. No need to be upset, just get back at it. You can do it!

One needs to stay at your target weight for about 1-1.5 month for your hippocampus(part of the brain which decides what to keep and what to release) to register it as a balance point. After that we still need to keep going with the lifestyle that brought us here. It should be nutritionally sufficient and sustainable. Changing the body structure is taxing on the body, so it tends to stay at a balance point, and therefore your weight won't jump up if you cheat once in a while on a special day or social occasion. It will if you start cheating consistently again.

I'm with you on the weight gain. Upped my exercise but the eating too! Hang in there. Because you slipped doesn't mean you didn't succeed. There is no time limit to losing weight as long as you keep at it. You got this!!

I am grateful for the support. What’s different this time is I am doing a better job of analyzing my behavior and using that information to make better choices. In the past, I would spiral into a defeatist attitude and continue to gain. Today I remind myself that my journey will literally have ups and downs and it will take a long time to get there. Slow, small, sustainable changes will lead to success. Also, the journey lasts a lifetime. I prefer to be positive, but just to vent: I absolutely hate logging my food.
